With the weather heating up this month and things opening back up again, I decided to include a couple of dresses and shorter tops on my Femme Luxe fashion edit this time! With the prospect of moving house to a 'doer upper' and also a couple of parties in the pipeline, I chose some items which could be suitable for a bit of DIY, lounging around and dressing up!
Femme Luxe have loads of fab little black dresses at the moment (they also have some lovely white dresses for summer but I'm not quite brave enough for that yet! I've yet to master the denim shorts!). This one is the black ruched midi bodycon dress in style Taylor, which I also ordered in a wine colour too of the same style.
Both dresses are a size 12, but I did feel that the wine coloured dress was a closer fit and the ruching at the back hugged my figure better than on the black dress which ended up making me look bigger than I am. The material is nice and stretchy and the ruching helps to hide lumps and bumps whilst creating a nice streamlined seam at the back in the center ( you can see this detail better on the wine coloured dress). I popped a pair of heels on - thankfully I hadn't forgotten how to wear these - which I think is a must for a dress like this! Perfect for a Swansea Cocktail bar.
Truthfully I could probably have gone down a size in this dress because it was so stretchy and and had a lot of room on the bust area too. A decent strapless bra is essential and a good pair of knickers for underneath too - although the rushing does help to hide a vpl. Which colour is your fave?
I love a comfy loungewear set and everywhere I turn I seem to see a cropped top at the moment! Admittedly my outfit of choice as a teenager, but not so much as a mum of 2! luckily, high waisted trousers make the combo these days, unlike the low rise jeans of my youth.
This camel off the shoulder loungewear set with white stripe in style Shani was one of those outfits I thought might look great on the model with tanned skin, but less so on me! Thankfully I think the white stripe actually helps make this look good on paler skin tones too so I was pleasantly surprised. I am wearing the M/L size which is a 12/14 and I have to be honest, its a bit small! I was at a real risk of this being called a camel for an entirely different reason, and the waistband didn't quite fit on my lower back 'dip'. I think if you've got a washboard stomach this style is fab, but if you have a bit of a tummy waiting to escape then this style of trousers just pulls across the front. It's a shame there wasn't a bigger size option available.
This black off-the-shoulder loungewear set in style Blake was one of my faves. I ordered this in their largest size XL which is a 14/16. I'm really pleased I did because it was so comfy and didn't pull or feel too tight. These are perfect for lounging around or doing a bit of DIY when you need to keep cool with a shorter top (without the worry of painting your skin!). The material is soft and the trousers have a bit of a cuffed bottom so they aren't flapping around your ankles....oh and POCKETS! super handy, but again, roomy in this size so not pulling open. I could actually put a phone in there. This one was actually big enough to be 'off the shoulder' too - whereas the camel option above didn't really fall of the shoulder.
This set can easily be teamed with a black hoody, or, an off the shoulder crop top like the one in my main blog post image which is style 'Kourt' and would go nicely too with a pencil shirt or tailored trousers.
