Femme luxe finery | May 2021 edit

I have previously posted about not being ready to give up the loungewear just yet, and so I was delighted to be able to add a few more pieces to my ‘comfy’ collection!

Femme Luxe have a number of affordable outfits,co-ord sets, bodycon midi dresses, milkmaid tops and more -   lots for under £30, with styles to suit most tastes whether you’re staying at home or going out. Although a lot of the clothes are probably aimed at a much younger demographic than me, there are still plenty of items that work for me at (almost) 36yrs.
I have some photos below of me wearing my top picks for this month - for size comparison, I am 5ft 4” and most of the items I have chosen are a size 12, although I will confirm for each piece. The best part of taking these photos was watching my 3 year old daughter mirror copy every pose I did before giggling her head off! A true fashionista, she would undoubtedly love to be trying on a load of clothes herself!

Here are my chosen items for May 2021:

I ended up buying these in a Large (12/14) and I'm pleased I did because this style came up smaller around the hip area on me - a slimmer top leg may not have the same experience! These are super soft, and although on the website they did look slightly cropped at the bottom, these were long enough on me to cover my whole leg. These ones really were 'high waisted', coming over the tummy button area without pulling on the crotch (phew!) and  they have a drawstring to hold them in place. The pockets are really helpful for holding your phone, mask etc but don't have a fasten to keep them closed. These would work well with a cropped top in summer, but also work with a top that goes 'over the top' of the joggers too.

Again, another pair of jogging bottoms that actually were high waisted with the room to wear them as such! I bought this grey loungewear set  in a size 12 which were a nice, comfortable fit. I haven't worn a cropped jumper since I was 12 and I had the same issue that I had back then - what can you realistically put underneath it?? I think the answer is probably nothing but a bra or a cropped vest/top. I know its the in trend right now to show a bit of top torso...I'm probably too short to show any unless I lift my arms up...or perhaps my boobs just aren't quite big enough, but either way, I managed to wear this without any skin actually being on show. Super comfy, but I did wonder if I could perhaps slot too easily into the group of teenagers who sit at the end of our street and seem to wear very similar. Should I add anti-ageing to the list of cropped lounge-wear credentials??

I have this set in navy so I decided to go with the wine colour as another option. Its not quite as forgiving as the darker colour. I bought a size 12 which was the right fit. It is quite a sheer material so nice for a bit of cover without being too warm. I've seen this modelled as a set to wear out and about - for me personally I struggled to find a pair of pants that you couldn't see through it so I'd stick to wearing this at home on the sofa or perhaps with a longer top over the top.

Again, I used to have something like this when I was 12 but not quite as trendy. The cut is in the style of a jacket, with a thicker hem at the bottom and cuffs. It's the perfect 'inbetween' of a shirt and a jacket, which is actually really handy at the moment with the changeable weather! Really soft and comfy to wear too and can be buttoned up or left open. This style comes in a number of colour options - pictured is the navy in size 12.

Have you ever heard of a shacket before? Is this something you would add to your wardrobe?
